1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the City of Tampa,
3 Hillsborough County; amending chapter 23559,
4 Laws of Florida, 1945, as amended; revising
5 certain death benefits; repealing all laws in
6 conflict herewith; providing an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Subparagraph a. of paragraph 1. of
11 subsection (A) of section 12 of chapter 23559, Laws of
12 Florida, 1945, as amended, is amended to read:
13 Section 12. Death Benefits.
14 (A) Division A Employees:
15 1. Should any retired Employee or active Employee,
16 regardless of age, having earned Pension Credit and
17 participated in this Fund, die and leave a widow or widower,
18 and/or a child or children under the age of 18 years, or one
19 or both solely dependent parents, then the Trustees shall
20 authorize and direct payment of a pension to the widow or
21 widower, and/or child or children, or the parent or parents,
22 but only in the following amounts and on the following
23 conditions:
24 a. To the widow or widower until she or he dies or
25 remarries, a monthly pension equal to 75 percent of the
26 Employee's Accrued Pension; however, such monthly pension
27 shall be reduced to 50 percent of the Employee's Accrued
28 Pension if such widow or widower remarries.
29 Section 2. All laws or parts of laws in conflict
30 herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

1 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
