14 On page 20, between lines 18 and 19,

16 insert:
17 Section 8. Section 944.7031, Florida Statutes, is
18 created to read:
19 944.7031 Eligible inmates released from private
20 correctional facilities.--
21 (1) It is the intent of the Legislature that state
22 inmates nearing release from a private correctional facility
23 managed under chapter 957 are eligible for assistance under
24 ss. 944.701-944.708, and all laws that provide for or mandate
25 transition-assistance services to inmates nearing release also
26 apply to inmates who reside in private correctional
27 facilities.
28 (2) To assist an inmate nearing release from a private
29 correctional facility, the department and the
30 transition-assistance specialist shall coordinate with a
31 designated staff person at each private correctional facility

1 to ensure that a state inmate released from the private
2 correctional facility is informed of and provided with the
3 same level of transition-assistance services that are provided
4 by the department for an inmate in a state correctional
5 facility. Any inmate released from a private correctional
6 facility shall also have equal access to placement
7 consideration in a contracted substance-abuse-transition
8 housing program, including those programs that have a
9 faith-based component.

16 On page 2, line 5, after the semicolon,

18 insert:
19 creating s. 944.7031, F.S.; providing for
20 inmates released from private correctional
21 facilities to be eligible for the same
22 transition-assistance services that are
23 provided to inmates in state correctional
24 facilities; requiring that such inmates be
25 given access to placement consideration in
26 substance-abuse-transition housing programs,
27 including programs that have a faith-based
28 component;
