11  Senator Smith moved the following amendment to substitute
12  amendment (471030):

14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 1, lines 22-30, and
16         on page 2, lines 11-19 delete those lines
17  
18  and insert:  an opthalmologist performing ocular surgery from
19  delegating ocular post-operative responsibilities relating to
20  that ocular surgery to a board certified optometrist licensed
21  under chapter 463; provided, that the delegation occurs no
22  sooner than 7 days following the ocular surgery, the board
23  certified optometrist is under general supervision by the
24  operating surgeon or an equivalently trained opthalmologist,
25  and the operating surgeon remains responsible for the
26  management of the patient's postoperative care. General
27  supervision shall mean the opthalmologist need not be present
28  but readily available for consultation or to direct treatment.
