  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones;

  3         authorizing the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

  4         Economic Development to amend the boundaries of

  5         an enterprise zone upon application by certain

  6         counties; providing requirements with respect

  7         thereto; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the

12  contrary, the governing body of an inland county with a

13  state-designated enterprise zone and a population greater than

14  500,000 may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

15  Economic Development to amend the boundaries of one

16  noncontiguous area of an enterprise zone. The office shall

17  approve the application so long as the amended area does not

18  exceed 4 square miles and is consistent with the categories,

19  criteria, and limitations imposed by s. 290.0055, Florida

20  Statutes, upon the establishment of such enterprise zone. The

21  enterprise zone boundary amendment application must be

22  received before December 31, 2001.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.

      Authorizes an inland county with a state-designated

      the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development to
30    amend the boundaries of a noncontiguous area of an
      enterprise zone, and directs the office to approve the
31    application under certain conditions.
