  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to determinations of residency

  3         for tuition purposes; amending s. 240.1201,

  4         F.S.; revising provisions relating to

  5         determinations of residency for tuition

  6         purposes to classify certain members of the

  7         Florida National Guard as residents for tuition

  8         purposes; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (10) of section

13  240.1201, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

14         240.1201  Determination of resident status for tuition

15  purposes.--Students shall be classified as residents or

16  nonresidents for the purpose of assessing tuition fees in

17  public community colleges and universities.

18         (10)  The following persons shall be classified as

19  residents for tuition purposes:

20         (a)  Active duty members of the Armed Services of the

21  United States residing or stationed in this state, their

22  spouses, and dependent children, and active members of the

23  Florida National Guard who qualify under s. 250.10(7) and (8)

24  for the tuition assistance program.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming

26  law.
