  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to court-appointed counsel;

  3         amending s. 39.013, F.S.; making state payment

  4         of court-appointed counsel representing

  5         indigent parents at shelter hearings permissive

  6         rather than mandatory; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (11) of section 39.013, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         39.013  Procedures and jurisdiction; right to

14  counsel.--

15         (11)  Court-appointed counsel representing indigent

16  parents at shelter hearings may shall be paid from state funds

17  appropriated by general law.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

19  law.
