  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the detention of material

  3         witnesses; expressing the legislative intent to

  4         allow courts to order the temporary detention

  5         of certain material witnesses; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  The Legislature intends to allow courts to

11  order the temporary detention of material witnesses whose

12  testimony is material in a criminal investigation or other

13  proceeding involving a suspected or charged violation of state

14  law which may be an act of terrorism or in furtherance of an

15  act of terrorism.

16         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

17  law.

20                          SENATE SUMMARY

21    Expresses the legislative intent to allow courts to order
      the temporary detention of material witnesses whose
22    testimony is material in a criminal investigation or
      other proceeding involving a suspected or charged
