1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to compensation of public
3 officials and employees called to active
4 military service; amending s. 115.14, F.S.;
5 authorizing the employing authorities of public
6 officials and employees to supplement the
7 military pay of those officials and employees
8 who are called to active service in either the
9 National Guard or a reserve component of the
10 Armed Forces of the United States; providing an
11 effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Section 115.14, Florida Statutes, is
16 amended to read:
17 115.14 Employees.--All employees of the state, the
18 several counties of the state, and the municipalities or
19 political subdivisions of the state may, in the discretion of
20 the employing authority of such employee, be granted leave of
21 absence under the terms of this law; upon such leave of
22 absence being granted said employee shall enjoy the same
23 rights and privileges as are hereby granted to officials under
24 this law, insofar as may be. Notwithstanding the provisions
25 of s. 115.09, the employing authority may supplement the
26 military pay of its officials and employees who are officers
27 or enlisted personnel in the National Guard or a reserve
28 component of the Armed Forces of the United States reservists
29 called to active military service for the first 30 days with
30 full pay and, thereafter, in an amount necessary to bring
31 their total salary, inclusive of their base military pay, to

1 the level earned at the time they were called to active
2 military duty. The employing authority may also, in its
3 discretion, continue to provide any health insurance and other
4 existing benefits to such officials and employees.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
6 law.
