  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to state support for certain

  3         postsecondary students; prohibiting state

  4         support to nonresident aliens who are citizens

  5         of specified countries; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10         Section 1.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law

11  to the contrary, no funds from general revenue, the lottery,

12  or financial aid fee revenues shall be used to provide student

13  financial assistance in the form of scholarships, fellowships,

14  grants, loans, tuition or fee waivers, or other financial

15  assistance to any nonresident alien student who is enrolled in

16  a Florida public postsecondary institution and who is a

17  citizen of any of the following countries:  Afghanistan, Iran,

18  Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria. A student's country

19  of citizenship shall be determined at the time of a student's

20  enrollment.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2002.
