  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Inmate Welfare Trust

  3         Fund; amending s. 945.215, F.S.; revising

  4         provisions establishing the amount of the

  5         weekly draw inmates are allowed to request from

  6         their individual accounts in the trust fund;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (f) of subsection (1) of section

12  945.215, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

13         945.215  Inmate welfare and employee benefit trust

14  funds.--

15         (1)  INMATE WELFARE TRUST FUND; DEPARTMENT OF

16  CORRECTIONS.--

17         (f)  Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

18  inmates with sufficient balances in their individual inmate

19  bank trust fund accounts, after all debts against the account

20  are satisfied, shall be allowed to request a weekly draw of up

21  to an amount set by the Secretary of Corrections, not to

22  exceed $100, $45 to be expended for personal use on canteen

23  and vending machine items.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.

      Provides that the maximum amount of the weekly draw
30    inmates are allowed to request from their individual
      accounts in the Inmate Welfare Trust Fund shall be set by
31    the Secretary of Corrections, not to exceed a specified
      amount.
