11  Senator Brown-Waite moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 43, between lines 14 and 15,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 8.  The Office of Legislative Services shall

18  contract for a business case study of the feasibility of

19  outsourcing the administrative, investigative, legal, and

20  prosecutorial functions and other tasks and services that are

21  necessary to carry out the regulatory responsibilities of the

22  Board of Dentistry, employing its own executive director and

23  other staff, and obtaining authority over collections and

24  expenditures of funds paid by professions regulated by the

25  board into the Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund. This

26  feasibility study must include a business plan and an

27  assessment of the direct and indirect costs associated with

28  outsourcing these functions. The sum of $50,000 is

29  appropriated from the Board of Dentistry account within the

30  Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund to the Office of

31  Legislative Services for the purpose of contracting for the

  1  study. The Office of Legislative Services shall submit the

  2  completed study to the Governor, the President of the Senate,

  3  and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by January 1,

  4  2003.
