  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to prekindergarten

  3         early-intervention programs; requiring the

  4         Florida Partnership for School Readiness to

  5         develop legislation to expand the

  6         prekindergarten early-intervention program to

  7         provide access to all 4-year-old children at no

  8         cost to the children's parents; requiring a

  9         report; providing an appropriation; providing

10         an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14         Section 1.  (1)  The Florida Partnership for School

15  Readiness, in consultation with the Legislature, shall develop

16  legislation to expand the prekindergarten early intervention

17  program to provide access for all 4-year old children at no

18  cost to the children's parents.  The Florida Partnership for

19  School Readiness shall report its recommendations to the

20  Legislature, in the form of legislation, no later than

21  November 1, 2002.

22         (2)  There is appropriated to the Florida Partnership

23  for School Readiness an amount sufficient to carry out the

24  provisions of this section.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.
