1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to publication information;
3 creating s. 283.551, F.S.; prohibiting
4 government agencies from mailing general
5 unsolicited reports to any person in the state;
6 providing exceptions; providing an effective
7 date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Section 283.551, Florida Statutes, is
12 created to read:
13 283.551 Unsolicited distribution of general reports by
14 mail prohibited; exceptions.--
15 (1) No agency of the state shall provide any general
16 unsolicited report by United States Postal Service mailing to
17 any person in the state.
18 (2) The provisions of subsection (1) shall not apply
19 with respect to reports posted on the Internet or reports sent
20 by e-mail computer transmission.
21 (3) The provisions of subsection (1) shall not apply
22 with respect to notifications, registrations, and other
23 matters which are required by law to be mailed by the
24 government agency.
25 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
26 law.
