14         On page 24, line 7, of the bill

16  insert:

17         Section 14.  Paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of section

18  319.33, Florida Statutes, is amended, and subsection (6) of

19  said section is reenacted, to read:

20         319.33  Offenses involving vehicle identification

21  numbers, applications, certificates, papers; penalty.--

22         (1)  It is unlawful:

23         (d)  To possess, sell or offer for sale, conceal, or

24  dispose of in this state a motor vehicle or mobile home, or

25  major component part thereof, on which any the motor number or

26  vehicle identification number that has been affixed by the

27  manufacturer or by a state agency, such as the Department of

28  Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which regulates motor

29  vehicles has been destroyed, removed, covered, altered, or

30  defaced, with knowledge of such destruction, removal,

31  covering, alteration, or defacement, except as provided in s.

  1  319.30(4).

  2         (6)  Any person who violates any provision of this

  3  section is guilty of a felony of the third degree, punishable

  4  as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.  Any

  5  motor vehicle used in violation of this section shall

  6  constitute contraband which may be seized by a law enforcement

  7  agency and shall be subject to forfeiture proceedings pursuant

  8  to ss. 932.701-932.704.  This section is not exclusive of any

  9  other penalties prescribed by any existing or future laws for

10  the larceny or unauthorized taking of motor vehicles or mobile

11  homes, but is supplementary thereto.

16         On page 2, line 18, after "default;"

18  insert:

19         amending s. 319.33, F.S.; revising the elements

20         of the offense of possessing, selling or

21         offering for sale, concealing, or disposing of

22         a motor vehicle or mobile home, or major

23         component part thereof, on which the motor

24         number or vehicle identification number has

25         been destroyed, removed, covered, altered, or

26         defaced; providing penalties;
