  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to specialty license plates;

  3         amending ss. 320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.;

  4         creating the Florida Firefighters license

  5         plate; providing for the distribution of annual

  6         use fees received from the sale of such plates;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (hh) is added to subsection (4)

12  of section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, as amended by chapter

13  2001-355, Laws of Florida, to read:

14         320.08056  Specialty license plates.--

15         (4)  The following license plate annual use fees shall

16  be collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:

17         (hh)  Florida Firefighters license plate, $20.

18         Section 2.  Subsection (32) is added to section

19  320.08058, Florida Statutes, as amended by chapter 2001-355,

20  Laws of Florida, to read:

21         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

22         (34)  FLORIDA FIREFIGHTERS LICENSE PLATE.--

23         (a)  Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 320.08053,

24  the department shall develop a Florida Firefighters license

25  plate as provided in this section. Florida Firefighters

26  license plates must bear the colors and design approved by the

27  department. The word "Florida" must appear at the top of the

28  plate, and the words "Salutes Firefighters" must appear at the

29  bottom of the plate.

30         (b)  The department shall retain all revenues from the

31  sale of such plates until all startup costs for developing and

  1  issuing the plates are recovered, not to exceed $60,000.

  2  Thereafter, the proceeds of the annual use fee shall be

  3  distributed to Firefighters/Paramedics Saves Lives, Inc., a

  4  501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Firefighters/Paramedics Saves

  5  Lives, Inc., shall distribute the moneys according to its

  6  articles of incorporation.

  7         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
