17 Section 2. Section 648.24, Florida Statutes, is
18 created to read:
19 648.24 Declaration of public policy.--It is the public
20 policy of this state and the intent of the Legislature that a
21 bond for which fees or premiums are charged must be executed
22 by a bail bond agent licensed pursuant to this chapter in
23 connection with the pretrial or appellate release of a
24 criminal defendant and shall be construed as a commitment by
25 and obligation upon the bail bond agent to ensure that the
26 defendant appears at all subsequent criminal proceedings.
