  1                      House Joint Resolution

  2         A joint resolution proposing an amendment to

  3         Section 15 of Article V of the State

  4         Constitution relating to attorneys.

  6  Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  7

  8         That the amendment to Section 15 of Article V of the

  9  State Constitution set forth below is agreed to and shall be

10  submitted to the electors of Florida for approval or rejection

11  at the general election to be held in November 2002:

12         SECTION 15.  Attorneys; admission and discipline.--The

13  Department of Business and Professional Regulation, or its

14  successor, supreme court shall have exclusive jurisdiction to

15  regulate the admission of persons to the practice of law and

16  the discipline of persons admitted.

17         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in accordance with the

18  requirements of section 101.161, Florida Statutes, the title

19  and substance of the amendment proposed herein shall appear on

20  the ballot as follows:

22                     ADMISSION AND DISCIPLINE

23                           OF ATTORNEYS

24

25  Proposes to replace the Supreme Court with the Department of

26  Business and Professional Regulation, or its successor, as the

27  entity responsible for the admission of persons to practice

28  law and the discipline of persons admitted to practice law.
