1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to powers and duties of
3 district school boards; amending s. 230.23005,
4 F.S.; authorizing school boards to provide for
5 advertising on school buses; providing for
6 policies, administration, and guidelines for
7 acceptable advertisements; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Paragraph (g) is added to subsection (2) of
13 section 230.23005, Florida Statutes, to read:
14 230.23005 Supplemental powers and duties of school
15 board.--The school board may exercise the following
16 supplemental powers and duties. Any provision of chapters 228,
17 229, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, and this chapter prevails over
18 any conflicting provision of this section. The rules adopted
19 under this section must not be inconsistent with the
20 provisions of chapters 228, 229, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, and
21 this chapter.
22 (2) FISCAL MANAGEMENT.--The school board may adopt
23 policies providing for fiscal management of the school
24 district with respect to school purchasing, facilities,
25 nonstate revenue sources, budgeting, fundraising, and other
26 activities relating to the fiscal management of district
27 resources, including, but not limited to, the policies
28 governing:
29 (g) Advertising on school buses that is authorized by
30 the school board; administration of advertising procedures and

1 revenues received; and guidelines for acceptable
2 advertisements.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
