11  The Committee on Crime Prevention, Corrections & Safety

12  offered the following:

14         Amendment (with title amendment) 

15  Remove everything after the enacting clause

16

17  and insert:

18         Section 1.  Subsection (16) is added to section 901.15,

19  Florida Statutes, to read:

20         901.15  When arrest by officer without warrant is

21  lawful.--A law enforcement officer may arrest a person without

22  a warrant when:

23         (16)  There is probable cause to believe that the

24  person has committed assault upon a law enforcement officer, a

25  firefighter, an emergency medical care provider, public

26  transit employees or agents, or other specified officers as

27  set forth in s. 784.07 or has committed assault or battery

28  upon any employee of a receiving facility as defined in s.

29  394.455 who is engaged in the lawful performance of his or her

30  duties.

31         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.

  7         An act relating to assault; amending s. 901.15,

  8         F.S.; authorizing a law enforcement officer to

  9         make an arrest without a warrant when there is

10         probable cause to believe that the person has

11         committed assault upon a law enforcement

12         officer, a firefighter, an emergency medical

13         care provider, public transit employees or

14         agents, or certain other officers or has

15         committed assault or battery upon any employee

16         of a receiving facility; providing an effective

17         date.
