2 An act relating to public records; amending s.

  3 119.07, F.S.; providing that certain personal

4 identifying information about public school

5 teachers is exempt from public-records

6 requirements; providing a statement of public

7 necessity; providing an effective date.

  8

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10

11 Section 1. Paragraph (ee) is added to subsection (3)

12 of section 119.07, Florida Statutes, as amended by section 1

13 of chapter 2001-364, Laws of Florida, to read:

14 119.07 Inspection, examination, and duplication of

15 records; exemptions.--

16 (3)

17 (ee) Identifying information relating to public school

18 teachers, including social security numbers, telephone

19 numbers, and addresses, is exempt from the requirements of

20 subsection (1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution.

21 This paragraph is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review

22 Act of 1995 in accordance with s. 119.15 and shall stand

23 repealed October 2, 2007, unless reviewed and saved from

24 repeal through reenactment by the Legislature.

25 Section 2. The Legislature finds that the exemption

26 from public-records requirements provided in section

27 119.07(3)(ee), Florida Statutes, is a public necessity because

28 free public access to such information may increase the risk

29 of violence against teachers by students and others. The

30 identification of public school teachers can compromise the

31 physical safety of the teachers and their families.

                                  1
