  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to brownfield site remediation;

  3         providing for the use of certain unencumbered,

  4         undisbursed funds from the Quick-Response

  5         Training Program, brownfield redevelopment

  6         bonus refunds, and certain appropriations;

  7         providing for grants to designated areas;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Any unencumbered funds remaining

13  undisbursed on or at the close of the fiscal year on June 30,

14  from the Quick-Response Training Program, from brownfield

15  redevelopment bonus refunds, and from unencumbered,

16  undisbursed funds appropriated in the General Appropriations

17  Act for cleanup of state-owned lands shall be used for grants

18  to fund expenses relating to the assessment and remediation of

19  brownfield sites within areas designated pursuant to s.

20  376.80, Florida Statutes, for those jurisdictions that have

21  United States Environmental Protection Agency brownfield pilot

22  projects designated prior to July 1, 1997. Grants shall be

23  distributed to eligible pilot projects under this section on a

24  pro rata basis in an amount not to exceed $500,000 per pilot

25  project.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
