18 Section 1. Effective May 1, 2003, subsection (1) of
19 section 553.74, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20 553.74 Florida Building Commission.--
21 (1) The Florida Building Commission is created and
22 shall be located within the Department of Community Affairs
23 for administrative purposes. Members shall be appointed by the
24 Governor subject to confirmation by the Senate. The commission
25 shall be composed of 23 members, consisting of the following:
26 (a) One architect registered to practice in this state
27 and actively engaged in the profession.
28 (b) One structural engineer registered to practice in
29 this state and actively engaged in the profession.
30 (c) One air-conditioning or mechanical contractor
31 certified to do business in this state and actively engaged in

1 the profession.
2 (d) One electrical contractor certified to do business
3 in this state and actively engaged in the profession.
4 (e) One member from fire protection engineering or
5 technology who is actively engaged in the profession.
6 (f) One general contractor certified to do business in
7 this state and actively engaged in the profession.
8 (g) One plumbing contractor licensed to do business in
9 this state and actively engaged in the profession.
10 (h) One roofing, or sheet metal, or air-conditioning
11 contractor certified to do business in this state and actively
12 engaged in the profession.
13 (i) One residential contractor licensed to do business
14 in this state and actively engaged in the profession.
15 (j) Three members who are municipal or district codes
16 enforcement officials, one of whom is also a fire official.
17 (k) One member who represents the Department of
18 Insurance.
19 (l) One member who is a county codes enforcement
20 official.
21 (m) One member of a Florida-based organization of
22 persons with disabilities or a nationally chartered
23 organization of persons with disabilities with chapters in
24 this state.
25 (n) One member of the manufactured buildings industry
26 who is licensed to do business in this state and is actively
27 engaged in the industry.
28 (o) One mechanical or electrical engineer registered
29 to practice in this state and actively engaged in the
30 profession.
31 (p) One member who is a representative of a

1 municipality or a charter county.
2 (q) One member of the building products manufacturing
3 industry who is authorized to do business in this state and is
4 actively engaged in the industry.

6 owners and managers industry who is actively engaged in
7 commercial building ownership or management.
8 (s) One member who is a representative of the
9 insurance industry.
10 (t) One member who is a representative of public
11 education.
