13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 23, between lines 18 and 19, of the bill

15

16  insert:

17         Section 13.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (6) of section

18  553.842, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

19         553.842  Product evaluation and approval.--

20         (6)  Statewide or local approval of products, methods,

21  or systems of construction may be achieved by one of the

22  following methods. One of these methods must be used by local

23  officials or the commission to approve the following

24  categories of products:  panel walls, exterior doors, roofing,

25  skylights, windows, shutters, and structural components as

26  established by the commission by rule.

27         (a)  Products for which the code establishes

28  standardized testing or comparative or rational analysis

29  methods shall be approved by submittal and validation of one

30  of the following reports or listings indicating that the

31  product or method or system of construction was evaluated to

  1  be in compliance with the Florida Building Code and that the

  2  product or method or system of construction is, for the

  3  purpose intended, at least equivalent to that required by the

  4  Florida Building Code:

  5         1.  A certification mark or listing of an approved

  6  certification agency. Notwithstanding provisions of this

  7  section or rules adopted by the commission to the contrary,

  8  building officials shall accept a certification mark or

  9  listing of an approved certification agency as sufficient to

10  establish that products, methods, or systems of construction

11  are in compliance with the Florida Building Code without

12  requiring submission of test procedures and test reports;

13         2.  A test report from an approved testing laboratory;

14         3.  A product evaluation report based upon testing or

15  comparative or rational analysis, or a combination thereof,

16  from an approved product evaluation entity; or

17         4.  A product evaluation report based upon testing or

18  comparative or rational analysis, or a combination thereof,

19  developed and signed and sealed by a professional engineer or

20  architect, licensed in this state.

27  insert:

28         amending s. 553.842, F.S.; clarifying criteria

29         for product evaluation and approval required

30         for compliance with the Florida Building Code;
