2 An act relating to the Department of Business
3 and Professional Regulation; amending s.
4 550.334, F.S.; revising criteria for
5 substitutions in quarter horse races; providing
6 an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (7) of section
11 550.334, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
12 550.334 Quarter horse racing; substitutions.--
13 (7)(a) Any quarter horse racing permitholder operating
14 under a valid permit issued before January 1, 2002, by the
15 division which has not been relocated after December 31, 2001,
16 to a county other than the county that appears on the original
17 permit application is authorized to substitute other races of
18 other breeds of horses which are, respectively, registered
19 with the American Paint Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse
20 Club, Arabian Horse Registry of America, Jockey Club, Palomino
21 Horse Breeders of America, or United States Trotting
22 Association, for no more than 50 percent of the quarter horse
23 races daily.
24 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
25 law.

COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

4 Provides that any quarter horse permit holder operating under
a valid permit issued before January 1, 2002, which has not
5 relocated after December 31, 2001, to a county other than the
county that appears on the original permit application is
6 authorized to substitute other races of other breeds of
horses. The act takes effect upon becoming a law.
