  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to quarter horse races;

  3         amending s. 550.334, F.S.; revising provisions

  4         relating to substitutions for quarter horse

  5         races; providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (7) of section

10  550.334, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

11         550.334  Quarter horse racing; substitutions.--

12         (7)(a)  Any quarter horse racing permitholder operating

13  under a valid permit issued prior to January 1, 2002, by the

14  division that has not been relocated after December 31, 2001,

15  to a county other than the county that appears on the original

16  permit application is authorized to substitute other races of

17  other breeds of horses which are, respectively, registered

18  with the American Paint Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse

19  Club, Arabian Horse Registry of America, Jockey Club, Palomino

20  Horse Breeders of America, or United States Trotting

21  Association, for no more than 50 percent of the quarter horse

22  races daily.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
