13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 25, line 25 of the bill

16  insert:

17         Section 30.  In order to implement Specific

18  Appropriations 2225-2228 of the 2002-2003 General

19  Appropriations Act, paragraph (c) of subsection (3) of section

20  445.004, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

21         445.004  Workforce Florida, Inc.; creation; purpose;

22  membership; duties and powers.--

23         (3) (c)  1.  Members appointed by the Governor must be

24  appointed for 2-year terms. Private sector representatives of

25  businesses, appointed by the Governor pursuant to Pub. L. No.

26  105-220, shall constitute a majority of the membership of the

27  board. Private sector representatives shall be appointed from

28  nominations received by the Governor from any member of the

29  Legislature. A member of the Legislature may submit more than

30  one board nomination to the Governor through his or her

31  respective presiding officer. Private sector appointments to

  1  the board shall be representative of the business community of

  2  this state, and no less than one-half of the appointments to

  3  the board must be representative of small businesses. Members

  4  appointed by the Governor serve at the pleasure of the

  5  Governor and are eligible for reappointment.

  6         2.  For fiscal year 2002-2003 only, the Governor may

  7  extend the terms of one half of his appointments to the board

  8  for one year.  This paragraph expires July 1, 2003.

17         Governor to extend the terms of certain members
