15         Amendment (with title amendment) 

16         On page 90, lines 14-30

17  remove:  all of said lines

19  and insert:

20         Section 52.  Effective upon this act becoming a law,

21  section 1001.395, Florida Statutes, is created to read:

22         1001.395  District school board members;

23  compensation.--

24         (1)  Each district school board shall annually

25  determine the salary of its members at the first regular

26  meeting following the organizational meeting held pursuant to

27  s. 1001.371. The salary shall be set at any amount up to but

28  not more than the lowest entry-level bachelor's degree step on

29  the teacher pay scale in the district. The proposed salary to

30  be adopted shall be noticed at the time of the meeting notice

31  and shall not be increased during the public meeting.  The

  1  salary adopted by the district school board shall be in effect

  2  during the succeeding 12 months.

  3         (2)  This section shall apply to members of the

  4  district school board elected on or after November 2002.
