15         In the title, on page 6, line 12, of the bill

17  insert:

18         WHEREAS, Representative Jerry G. Melvin has served in

19  the Florida House of Representatives for 18 years, from

20  1968-1978 and 1995-2002, and is the current Dean of this great

21  institution, and

22         WHEREAS, Representative Jerry G. Melvin served for many

23  years on the Education Appropriations Committee, chaired the

24  Education Innovation Committee from 1997 through 2000, and has

25  chaired the Council for Lifelong Learning from 2000 through

26  2002, and

27         WHEREAS, in his many years of education chairmanship,

28  Representative Jerry G. Melvin has fought tirelessly to

29  achieve the public policy goals of the House leadership, and

30         WHEREAS, in his final year of service to this House,

31  Representative Jerry G. Melvin has accomplished his crowning

  1  achievement by bringing before this body, as required in last

  2  year's education governance legislation, a new, clear, concise

  3  revision of the entire education code that reflects the new

  4  governance structure, and

  5         WHEREAS, this new education code is the largest, most

  6  comprehensive piece of legislation ever brought before this

  7  Legislature and epitomizes the dedication and hard work of

  8  Representative Jerry G. Melvin, NOW, THEREFORE,
