11  Senator Geller moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 33, line 1,

16  insert:

17         (5)  The division shall organize its operational units

18  to most effectively prevent, detect, and suppress wildfires,

19  and to that end, may employ the necessary personnel to manage

20  its activities in each unit. The division may construct

21  lookout towers, roads, bridges, firelines, and other

22  facilities and may purchase or fabricate tools, supplies, and

23  equipment for firefighting. The division may reimburse the

24  public and private entities that it engages to assist in the

25  suppression of wildfires for their personnel and equipment,

26  including aircraft.

27         (a)  The Cross City Work Center shall be named the L.

28  Earl Peterson Forestry Station.  This is to honor Mr. L. Earl

29  Peterson.  Florida's sixth state forester, whose distinguished

30  career in state government has spanned 44 years and who is a

31  native of Dixie County.
