  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to property insurance; amending

  3         ss. 627.351, F.S.; adding an area eligible for

  4         coverage from the Florida Windstorm

  5         Underwriting Association; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Paragraph (e) of subsection (2) of section

11  627.351, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

12         627.351  Insurance risk apportionment plans.--

13         (2)  WINDSTORM INSURANCE RISK APPORTIONMENT.--

14         (e)1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of subparagraph

15  (c)2. or paragraph (d), eligibility shall not be extended to

16  any area that was not eligible on March 1, 1997, except that

17  the department may act with respect to any petition on which a

18  hearing was held prior to May 9, 1997.

19         2.  Notwithstanding the provisions of subparagraph 1.,

20  the following area is eligible for coverage under this

21  subsection effective July 1, 2002:  the area within Port

22  Canaveral which is bordered on the south by the City of Cape

23  Canaveral, bordered on the west by the Banana River, and

24  bordered on the north by United States Government property.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.

30    Provides for an area within Port Canaveral to be eligible
      for coverage from the Florida Windstorm Underwriting
31    Association.
