  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution honoring the University of Miami

  3         Hurricane football team.

  5         WHEREAS, the University of Miami is a premier

  6  educational institution, offering excellence in academic, as

  7  well as athletic, pursuits, and

  8         WHEREAS, the Hurricanes had a perfect 2001 season with

  9  12 wins and no losses, and

10         WHEREAS, the University of Miami Hurricane football

11  team boasts an impressive history with five National Football

12  Championships, including this season, and

13         WHEREAS, the Hurricane football team defeated the

14  University of Nebraska 37-14 at the 2002 Rose Bowl to become

15  National Champions, NOW, THEREFORE,

17  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

19         That the Florida Senate recognizes the University of

20  Miami Hurricane football team as the college national football

21  champions for the 2001 football season.

22         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

23  with the seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

24  University of Miami as a tangible token of the sentiments and

25  esteem of the Florida Senate.
