On Page: 016 Places all need-based FSAG grants in the same
appropriation category and provides accompanying
Spec App: 72 proviso language to provide flexibility to student
financial aid offices in meeting the needs of both
full-time and part-time students.
(Trust increase is double budget needed purely for
technical purposes.)

following last line of second paragraph of proviso in specific
appropriation 78, insert:
Student Assistance Grants for Part-time Students . . . 3,828,086
Funds in Specific Appropriation 78 shall be expended in accordance
with SB 1914 or similar legislation establishing a need-based financial
aid program for part-time students. These funds are not contingent upon
the passage of SB 1914 or similar legislation.
Should the need for part-tme FSAG students exceed the amount provided, a
local financial aid office may supplement part-time funding with the new
funding provided for the Public Student Assistance Grant (Full-time) for
2002-03. The Office of Student Financial Assistance will report amounts
so utilized to the Senate Appropriations Committee and House Fiscal
Responsibility Council as soon as the information is available for FY
2002-03.
Line item amendments are accepted as part of the amendatory process. However, due to the necessity of using computerized systems this may entail a different placement
within a budget entity or the renumbering of the specific appropriation items. |
