Insert the following new proviso following Specific Appropriation 105 on
page 20:
From the funds appropriated in Specific Appropriation 105, $250,000 is
provided to implement an education planning system beginning with
integrated, grade-appropriate academic and career evaluation in eighth
and tenth grades which will provide the basis for activities, evaluation
components, and feedback models through the first year of enrollment in
college or in an area technical center. This system will increase
student achievement and success and will assist the state in monitoring
and evaluating student progress and readiness for postsecondary
education. The system will integrate education and career planning and
preparation, including a high school course planning component in the
eighth and tenth grades. The system will include instructional
components in grades eight through twelve, as well as evaluation
components in eighth, tenth and twelfth grades and the first year of

enrollment in postsecondary education. The system will provide a method
for identifying groups and individuals in eighth and tenth grades who
require academic improvement in English, mathematics, reading, and
science reasoning. The system will be curriculum based, have a
significant correlation to the Sunshine State Standards, and reflect
research that identifies the skills necessary for students to succeed in
high school, postsecondary education, and the workforce. The Secretary
of the Florida Board of Education shall solicit competitive proposals
from an education consortium that serves small school districts, a
medium school district, and a large district for piloting the system.
In the second line of the third paragraph of proviso following Specific
Appropriation 105 on page 20, delete:
$3,522.64
And recalculate the Base Student Allocation.
Line item amendments are accepted as part of the amendatory process. However, due to the necessity of using computerized systems this may entail a different placement
within a budget entity or the renumbering of the specific appropriation items. |
