  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing Lance Corporal John

  3         Macdonell, for service in the Middle East.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell is a resident of

  6  Lake County, and

  7         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell is the son of

  8  Captain Alex J. Macdonell, II, (USMC Ret.) and Barbara S.

  9  Macdonell, District Senior Legislative Assistant to Senator

10  Anna P. Cowin, and

11         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell's photograph is

12  displayed in Senator Anna P. Cowin's office on her "Wall of

13  Honor" as a living memorial, honoring those in the Armed

14  Services who are fighting to protect our nation's freedom, and

15         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell enlisted in the

16  United States Marine Corps in June, 2000; graduated from Paris

17  Island on August 25, 2000; and graduated from the School of

18  Infantry in October, 2000, and

19         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell is currently

20  assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, and

21         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell served in the

22  Middle East in Operation Enduring Freedom, from September,

23  2001 until February 2002, and

24         WHEREAS, Lance Corporal John Macdonell was

25  meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class and

26  Lance Corporal, and has a promotion to Corporal pending, NOW,

27  THEREFORE,

29  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  1         That Lance Corporal John Macdonell is commended for his

  2  service to his country in the United States Marine Corps.

  3         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution,

  4  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Lance

  5  Corporal John Macdonell as a tangible token of the sentiments

  6  of the Florida Senate.
