  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing the week of April 21

  3         to April 27, 2002, as Florida Organ and Tissue

  4         Donor Awareness Week.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, organ donor awareness has been a subject long

  7  pursued by many organizations in this state, and

  8         WHEREAS, organ transplant support groups have been

  9  active throughout the state and have been actively involved in

10  the pursuit of public awareness, and

11         WHEREAS, organ transplant support groups for

12  pretransplant and post-transplant patients have proven to be

13  an effective means of helping patients and their families, and

14         WHEREAS, organ transplant support groups, by way of

15  their members, have proven to be an effective resource in

16  helping to educate the public, and

17         WHEREAS, increased awareness of organ donation and

18  transplantation will benefit and contribute to improved health

19  of the residents of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

20

21  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

22

23         That the Florida Senate recognizes the week of April 21

24  to April 27, 2002, as Florida Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness

25  Week in support of National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness
