  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Broward County; amending

  3         chapter 27438, Laws of Florida, 1951, as

  4         amended, relating to the North Broward Hospital

  5         District; providing that the North Broward

  6         Hospital District is not a "public body" or

  7         "taxing authority" for the purposes of pt. III

  8         of ch. 163, F.S.; providing an exception with

  9         respect to community redevelopment agencies

10         created before a specified date; providing a

11         retroactive effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  Section 51 is added to chapter 27438, Laws

16  of Florida, 1951, as amended, to read:

17         Section 51.  (1)  Notwithstanding the provisions of

18  part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes, the Community

19  Redevelopment Act of 1969, the North Broward Hospital District

20  shall not be deemed to be a "public body" or "taxing

21  authority" as those terms are used in part III of chapter 163,

22  Florida Statutes.

23         (2)  This section shall not apply with respect to

24  community redevelopment agencies established prior to January

25  1, 2002.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law and shall apply retroactively to December 31, 2001.
