  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution commending the Lincoln High School

  3         Trojan Football Team for its 2001 football

  4         season.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

  7  Team won 14 games, establishing a school record, and

  8         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

  9  Team was the only high school football team in this state to

10  remain unbeaten by another Florida team, losing only one game,

11  to an out-of-state school, and

12         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

13  Team won the Class 4A District 2 Championship, the Region I

14  Championship, the North Florida Championship, and ultimately

15  won the Florida State Championship in a 28-20 win over St.

16  Thomas Aquinas High School, and

17         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

18  Team defeated eight teams that were ranked in the top 10 in

19  the state, three of which were nationally ranked by USA Today,

20  and ended the season with a national ranking of seventh in the

21  final USA Today poll, and

22         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

23  Team roster included two Parade All-Americans, one USA Today

24  First-team All-American, six players selected for the

25  Cali-Florida Bowl, and six players who received scholarships

26  to highly competitive Division IA universities, including one

27  each to the University of Florida, Florida State University,

28  and the University of Miami, and

29         WHEREAS, the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football

30  Team has brought state and national honor to Lincoln High

31  School, Tallahassee, and the State of Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  2

  3         That the 2001 Lincoln High School Trojan Football Team,

  4  Athletic Director Jimmy Everette, Head Coach David Wilson, and

  5  the coaching staff are commended for their outstanding

  6  accomplishments in bringing Lincoln High School to state and

  7  national prominence in high school football.

  8         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

  9  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the 2001

10  Lincoln High School Trojan Football Team as a tangible token

11  of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
