13         Amendment to Amendment (092299) (with title amendment) 

14         On page 6, between lines 10 and 11, of the amendment

15

16  insert:

17         Section 5.  Subsection (2) of section 489.118, Florida

18  Statutes, is amended to read:

19         489.118  Certification of registered contractors;

20  grandfathering provisions.--The board shall, upon receipt of a

21  completed application and appropriate fee, issue a certificate

22  in the appropriate category to any contractor registered under

23  this part who makes application to the board and can show that

24  he or she meets each of the following requirements:

25         (2)  Has, for that category, passed a written

26  examination, or if disabled an oral examination, that the

27  board finds to be substantially similar to the examination

28  required to be licensed as a certified contractor under this

29  part. For purposes of this subsection, a written, proctored

30  examination such as that produced by the National Assessment

31  Institute, Block and Associates, NAI/Block, Experior

  1  Assessments, Professional Testing, Inc., or Assessment

  2  Systems, Inc., shall be considered to be substantially similar

  3  to the examination required to be licensed as a certified

  4  contractor.  The board may not impose or make any requirements

  5  regarding the nature or content of these cited examinations.
