13         Amendment to Amendment (645115) (with title amendment) 

14         On page 1, between lines 16 & 17,

15

16  insert:  There is established within the Agency for Health

17  Care Administration a demonstration project entitled the

18  "Acute Care Subdistrict 1-1" pilot project. the pilot project

19  shall utilize general acute care beds from any hospital within

20  the Acute Care Subdistrict 1-1, as defined in 59-C2.100,

21  Florida Administrative Code; which may relocate existing beds

22  within the same subdistrict for the establishment of a

23  satellite hospital as the demonstration project. the

24  establishment of a satellite hospital under this section shall

25  be exempt from the provisions of s. 408.036(1), Florida

26  Statutes, as provided in this section. any exemption under s.

27  408.036(1) must be requested on or before July 1, 2003.

28  Construction of the satellite hospital must commence within

29  the timeframes applicable to certificates of need. the Agency

30  for Health Care Administration shall monitor the demonstration

31  project and report its findings on the impact of granting the

  1  exemption under this section to the Governor, the President of

  2  the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives

  3  one year after any satellite hospital exempted under this

  4  section becomes operational. The report shall contain findings

  5  with respect to the impact that the granting of the exemption

  6  had on competition in the district and subdistrict, costs to

  7  providers, patients, and payors, and the use and occupancy

  8  rates of acute care beds in the subdistrict.

21         the Agency for Health Care administration to

22         monitor the project; requiring a report;
