  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating

  3         s. 290.00686, F.S.; authorizing the Office of

  4         Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development to

  5         designate an enterprise zone in Brevard County;

  6         providing requirements with respect thereto;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 290.00686, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         290.00686  Enterprise zone designation for Brevard

14  County, Cocoa, or Brevard County and Cocoa.--Brevard County,

15  the City of Cocoa, or Brevard County and the City of Cocoa

16  jointly, may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

17  Economic Development for designation of one enterprise zone

18  encompassing an area which includes the boundaries of the

19  three community redevelopment areas established pursuant to

20  part III of chapter 163. The application must be submitted by

21  December 31, 2002, and must comply with the requirements of s.

22  290.0055. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065

23  limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and

24  the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

25  the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

26  designate one enterprise zone under this section. The Office

27  of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish

28  the initial effective date of the enterprise zone designated

29  pursuant to this section.

30         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

31  law.
