  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to farm labor contractors;

  3         amending s. 450.34, F.S.; prohibiting farm

  4         labor contractors from charging or deducting

  5         from wages certain fees; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Section 450.34, Florida Statutes, is

11  amended to read:

12         450.34  Prohibited acts of farm labor contractor.--A No

13  licensee shall not:

14         (1)  Make any misrepresentation or false statement in

15  his or her application for a certificate of registration.

16         (2)  Make or cause to be made to any person any false,

17  fraudulent, or misleading representation or publish or

18  circulate or cause to be published or circulated any false,

19  fraudulent, or misleading information concerning the terms,

20  conditions, or existence of employment at any place or places,

21  by any person or persons, or of any individual or individuals.

22         (3)  Make any charge or deduction from wages for any

23  tools, equipment, transportation, or recruiting fees that are

24  determined under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act to be to

25  the benefit of the employer.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
