1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to Silver Springs and Rainbow
3 Springs; permitting fishing from the shore of
4 the Rainbow River; providing an effective date.

6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

8 Section 1. Section 372.27, Florida Statutes, is
9 amended to read:
10 372.27 Silver Springs and Rainbow Springs, etc.,
11 closed to all fishing.--It is unlawful for any person to take
12 any fish within Marion County, from the waters of Rainbow
13 Springs and Rainbow River (formerly known as Blue Springs and
14 Blue Springs River) within that portion of Rainbow Springs
15 State Park lying within a radius of 1,700 feet 1 mile from the
16 head of Rainbow said Spring, or from the waters of Silver
17 Springs or Silver Springs Run from the head of Silver Springs
18 said spring to its junction with the Oklawaha River. However,
19 ; provided, that the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
20 may remove or cause to be removed any gar, mud fish, or other
21 predatory fish from either spring or river when in its
22 judgment their removal is desirable.
23 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.

25 STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
26 Senate Bill 680

28 The committee substitute deletes the restriction to fishing
from the shore of the Rainbow River and, instead, permits
29 fishing anywhere on the Rainbow River except within that
portion of the Rainbow Springs State Park lying within a
30 radius of 1700 feet from the head of Rainbow Springs.
