17 and insert:
18 (1) There is created within the Spaceport Florida
19 Space Authority a board of supervisors consisting of the
20 Lieutenant Governor, serving as the presiding officer; eight
21 seven regular members, who shall be appointed by the
22 Governor;, and two ex officio nonvoting members who are
23 members of the Legislature, one of whom shall be a state
24 senator selected by the President of the Senate and one of
25 whom shall be a state representative selected by the Speaker
26 of the House of Representatives; and the director of the
27 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development as an ex
28 officio nonvoting member. Regular members are, all of whom
29 shall be subject to confirmation by the Senate at the next
30 regular session of the Legislature. Each of the regular board
31 members must be a resident of the state and must have

1 experience in the aerospace or commercial space industry or in
2 finance or have other significant relevant experience. One
3 regular member shall represent organized labor interests; and
4 one regular member shall represent minority interests; and
5 four regular members must represent the space industry, and at
6 least one of the four must also be from a small business as
7 defined in s. 288.703. As used in this section, the term
8 "space industry" includes private-sector entities engaged in
9 space flight business as defined in s. 212.031, research and
10 technology development of space-based products and services,
11 space station commercialization, development of spaceport and
12 range technology, remote sensing products and services, space
13 biotechnology, measurement and calibration of space assets,
14 space-related software and information technology development,
15 design and architecture of space-based assets and facilities
16 for manufacturing and other purposes, space-related
17 nano-technology, space tourism, and other commercial
18 enterprises utilizing uniquely space-based capabilities.
19 (2) Each regular member shall serve a term of 4 years
20 or until a successor is appointed and qualified. The term of
21 each such member shall be construed to commence on the date of
22 appointment and to terminate on June 30 of the year of the end
23 of the term. Appointment to the board shall not preclude any
24 such member from holding any other private or public position.
25 (3) Each The ex officio nonvoting legislative member
26 members shall serve on the board for a 2-year term terms.
27 (4) Any vacancy on the board shall be filled for the
28 balance of the unexpired term.
29 (5) The Lieutenant Governor is the state's space
30 policy leader. The Lieutenant Governor may designate a regular
31 member to serve as vice-chair of the board. The vice-chair

1 shall preside over board meetings in the absence of the chair.
