16 insert: 443.111 Payment of benefits.--
17 (3) WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT.--An individual's "weekly
18 benefit amount" shall be an amount equal to one twenty-sixth
19 of the total wages for insured work paid during that quarter
20 of the base period in which such total wages paid were the
21 highest, but not less than $32 or more than $275. For claims
22 with benefit years beginning October 1, 2002, January 1, 2000,
23 through December 31, 2000, an additional amount equal to $25
24 or 15 5 percent of the weekly benefit amount, whichever is
25 greater, shall be added for each compensable week the first 8
26 compensable weeks of benefits paid, not to exceed $316 $288.
27 Such weekly benefit amount, if not a multiple of $1, shall be
28 rounded downward to the nearest full dollar amount. The
29 maximum weekly benefit amount in effect at the time the
30 claimant establishes an individual weekly benefit amount shall
31 be the maximum benefit amount applicable throughout the

1 claimant's benefit year.
2 (5) DURATION OF BENEFITS.--
3 (a)1. Any otherwise eligible individual shall be
4 entitled during any benefit year to a total amount of benefits
5 equal to 25 percent of the total wages in the base period, not
6 to exceed $7,150. For claims with benefit years beginning
7 October 1, 2002, through June 30, 2004 January 1, 2000,
8 through December 31, 2000, an additional amount equal to $650
9 or 15 5 percent of the weekly benefit amount multiplied by 26,
10 whichever is greater, 8 shall be added to the calculated total
11 amount of benefits, the sum of which may not exceed $8,216
12 $7,254. However, such total amount of benefits, if not a
13 multiple of $1, shall be rounded downward to the nearest full
14 dollar amount. Such benefits shall be payable at a weekly rate
15 no greater than the weekly benefit amount.
16 2. For the purposes of this subsection, wages shall be
17 counted as "wages for insured work" for benefit purposes with
18 respect to any benefit year only if such benefit year begins
19 subsequent to the date on which the employing unit by whom
20 such wages were paid has satisfied the conditions of this
21 chapter with respect to becoming an employer.
22 Section 1. Except as otherwise provided in this act,
23 this act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
