2 An act relating to trust funds; re-creating the
3 Crime Stoppers Trust Fund within the Department
4 of Legal Affairs without modification; carrying
5 forward current balances and continuing current
6 sources and uses thereof; amending s. 16.556,
7 F.S.; deleting a provision relating to
8 termination and review of the trust fund, to
9 conform; providing an effective date.

11 WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to extend the life of
12 the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund within the Department of Legal
13 Affairs, which is otherwise scheduled to be terminated
14 pursuant to constitutional mandate, and
15 WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the trust fund
16 before its scheduled termination date and has found that it
17 continues to meet an important public purpose, and
18 WHEREAS, the Legislature has found that existing public
19 policy concerning the trust fund sets adequate parameters for
20 its use, NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
23
24 Section 1. (1) The Crime Stoppers Trust Fund within
25 the Department of Legal Affairs, FLAIR number 41-2-202, which
26 is to be terminated pursuant to Section 19(f), Article III of
27 the State Constitution on July 1, 2002, is re-created.
28 (2) All current balances of the trust fund are carried
29 forward, and all current sources and uses of the trust fund
30 are continued.

1 Section 2. Section 16.556, Florida Statutes, is
2 amended to read:
3 16.556 Crime Stoppers Trust Fund.--
4 (1) The Crime Stoppers Trust Fund is created to be
5 administered by the Department of Legal Affairs.
6 (2) Pursuant to the provisions of s. 19(f)(2), Art.
7 III of the State Constitution, the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund
8 shall, unless terminated sooner, be terminated on July 1,
9 2002. Prior to its scheduled termination, the trust fund must
10 be reviewed as provided in s. 215.3206(1) and (2).
11 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
