1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to trust funds; re-creating the
3 Inmate Welfare Trust Fund within the Department
4 of Corrections without modification; carrying
5 forward current balances and continuing current
6 sources and uses thereof; repealing s.
7 945.21502(3), F.S., relating to termination and
8 review of the trust fund, to conform; providing
9 an effective date.

11 WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to extend the life of
12 the Inmate Welfare Trust Fund within the Department of
13 Corrections, which is otherwise scheduled to be terminated
14 pursuant to constitutional mandate, and
15 WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the trust fund
16 before its scheduled termination date and has found that it
17 continues to meet an important public purpose, and
18 WHEREAS, the Legislature has found that existing public
19 policy concerning the trust fund sets adequate parameters for
20 its use, NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

24 Section 1. (1) The Inmate Welfare Trust Fund within
25 the Department of Corrections, FLAIR number 70-2-523, which is
26 to be terminated pursuant to Section 19(f), Article III of the
27 State Constitution on July 1, 2002, is re-created.
28 (2) All current balances of the trust fund are carried
29 forward, and all current sources and uses of the trust fund
30 are continued.

1 Section 2. Subsection (3) of section 945.21502,
2 Florida Statutes, is repealed.
3 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
