  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution paying tribute to America's law

  3         enforcement officers, firefighters, and

  4         emergency medical technicians on the six-month

  5         anniversary of the tragic events of September

  6         11, 2001.

  8         WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, this nation

  9  and indeed the whole world watched in stunned disbelief,

10  transfixed by the unspeakable horror of televised images of

11  the carnage and devastation resulting from four treacherous

12  acts of terrorism upon American soil, and

13         WHEREAS, as Americans struggled to accept the reality

14  of the chaotic scenes unfolding before them, other pictures

15  began to emerge, those showing feats of courage and daring,

16  acts of compassion and self-sacrifice, and heroic rescue

17  attempts in the face of extreme danger, and

18         WHEREAS, never has the spirit of America been more

19  strikingly apparent than as revealed in the noble actions of

20  the firefighters and police, the Public Safety Officers who

21  rushed to the sites of disaster and stubbornly persisted in

22  their grim determination to save lives, some at the expense of

23  their own, and

24         WHEREAS, the courage of our emergency services workers

25  forever stands as testimonial to our resolve to stand united

26  as one nation, and

27         WHEREAS, the people of this state wish to express their

28  appreciation, respect, and thanks to the hard-working law

29  enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical

30  technicians who protect us all, and

  1         WHEREAS, on the six-month anniversary of the tragic

  2  events of September 11 that have forever changed our nation,

  3  we the people of the State of Florida hereby resolve that the

  4  sacrifices of our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and

  5  emergency medical technicians shall not have been in vain,

  6  NOW, THEREFORE,

  8  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  9  Florida:

10

11         That the House of Representatives commends and honors

12  our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency

13  medical technicians for the risks and sacrifices they make

14  each day to protect us all.
