1 House Resolution
2 A resolution honoring Bobbie Booker Phillips.

4 WHEREAS, after graduating from High Springs High School
5 in 1942, Bobbie Booker Phillips was employed by the Phifer
6 State Bank in Gainesville as administrative assistant to the
7 president and teller, before accepting a position with the
8 Branford State Bank as bookkeeper and teller, and
9 WHEREAS, in 1967, Bobbie Booker Phillips accepted
10 employment in Tallahassee with the House of Representatives
11 training, supervising, and coordinating the activities of the
12 young messengers who served in the House during sessions
13 until, in 1971, she assumed the duties of information clerk
14 and continued in that capacity until the year 2000, and
15 WHEREAS, Bobbie Booker Phillips has been active as a
16 member or an officer in organizations in her community too
17 numerous to set forth here, but a small sampling of which
18 includes the Order of the Eastern Star, the Branford Woman's
19 Club, the Branford Parent-Teacher Association, the Girl Scouts
20 of America, the Florida Childrens' Commission of Suwannee
21 County, and the First Baptist Church, and
22 WHEREAS, among the honors received by Bobbie Booker
23 Phillips are recognition by the United States Air Force
24 Defense Team, a Presidential Citation during World War II, a
25 House and Senate Resolution Commendation, and, from the City
26 of Tallahassee, a Florida Citation, and
27 WHEREAS, married to A. Jack Phillips, her husband of 55
28 years, with whom she shares a daughter, Carol A. (Sunny),
29 Bobbie Booker Phillips enjoys needlework, bridge, reading, and
30 travel, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
2 Florida:

4 That the House of Representatives is pleased to honor
5 Bobbie Booker Phillips for her years of service to this body,
6 to recognize her accomplishments, and to add its expression of
7 gratitude to those that have been previously bestowed upon
8 her.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
10 be presented to Bobbie Booker Phillips as a tangible token of
11 the sentiments expressed herein.
