  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution paying tribute to the memory of

  3         Sgt. Bradley Crose.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, described by his father as a devout Christian,

  6  and possessed of a reputation for being fiercely principled,

  7  Orange Park native son Bradley Crose graduated from high

  8  school in 1998 and, determined to fulfill his dream of

  9  "jumping from airplanes," joined the United States Army,

10  quickly rising to the rank of sergeant, and

11         WHEREAS, Sgt. Bradley Crose proved to be an exceptional

12  Army Ranger and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger

13  Regiment, of Savannah, Georgia, a highly trained special

14  operations group prepared for deployment anywhere in the world

15  on 18 hours' notice, and

16         WHEREAS, on March 4, 2002, Sgt. Bradley Crose, 22, was

17  in command of a six-member fire team, part of a helicopter

18  rescue team in Afghanistan sent to retrieve the body of a Navy

19  SEAL who had been killed in combat, and

20         WHEREAS, on March 4, 2002, Sgt. Bradley Crose was one

21  of six United States soldiers who died in the snow-capped

22  mountains of east Afghanistan, the result of enemy fire, and

23         WHEREAS, on March 11, 2002, six months after the tragic

24  events that sent Sgt. Bradley Crose to his death on foreign

25  soil, thousands of silent, flag-carrying mourners lined the

26  streets of Orange Park in their last tribute to a fallen

27  warrior as his funeral procession made its way from Pinewood

28  Presbyterian Church to Jacksonville Memory Gardens, where he

29  was laid to rest, and

30         WHEREAS, in his life, Sgt. Bradley Crose set a standard

31  of incredible moral courage, and, in his death, he became an

  1  example of extreme patriotism and devotion to country, NOW,

  2  THEREFORE,

  4  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  5  Florida:

  6

  7         That the House of Representatives pauses in its

  8  deliberations to pay tribute to Sgt. Bradley Crose, truly one

  9  of America's finest heroes.

10         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

11  be presented to Sheila Maguhn and to Rick Crose, parents of

12  the late Sgt. Bradley Crose.
