14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 82, between lines 13 and 14,

17  insert:  
18         Section 34.  Effective July 1, 2002, subsection (8) of
19  section 400.925, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20         400.925  Definitions.--As used in this part, the term:
21         (8)  "Home medical equipment" includes any product as
22  defined by the Federal Drug Administration's Drugs, Devices
23  and Cosmetics Act, any products reimbursed under the Medicare
24  Part B Durable Medical Equipment benefits, or any products
25  reimbursed under the Florida Medicaid durable medical
26  equipment program. Home medical equipment includes, but is not
27  limited to, oxygen and related respiratory equipment; manual,
28  motorized, or. Home medical equipment includes customized
29  wheelchairs and related seating and positioning, but does not
30  include prosthetics or orthotics or any splints, braces, or
31  aids custom fabricated by a licensed health care practitioner.

 1  Home medical equipment includes assistive technology devices,
 2  including: manual wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs,
 3  motorized scooters, voice-synthesized computer modules,
 4  optical scanners, talking software, braille printers,
 5  environmental control devices for use by person with
 6  quadriplegia, motor vehicle adaptive transportation aids,
 7  devices that enable persons with severe speech disabilities to
 8  in effect speak, personal transfer systems and specialty beds,
 9  including demonstrator, for use by a person with a medical
10  need.
